Dr. Richard Hanbury has been an integral part of Mittagong Medical Centre for over 40 years. He is passionate about grass roots care and connecting with his patients to provide the best possible outcome. This has involved until recently delivering babies and Richard is still involved in providing antenatal care.
Special interests include diabetes, aged and palliative care, paediatrics and men’s health. Richard is experienced in contraceptive advice and does IUD and implanon insertions. Until recently Richard was a Visiting Medical Officer at Bowral Hospital and still has an appointment at the Southern Highlands Private Hospital.

Head and shoulder view of Dr Rosie Handbury

Dr. Rosie Hanbury joined the practice as a GP in 2022. She is passionate about promoting well-being and disease prevention in all patients. After completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney, Dr. Rosie obtained her medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Wollongong. She then worked in Bankstown, Campbelltown and Bowral Hospitals, before completing her GP training in Sydney. Dr. Rosie enjoys seeing the full range of general practice. Her special interests include child and adolescent health, women’s health, and dermatology. She provides antenatal shared care, and IUD insertions.

**UPDATE: Dr. Rosie will be on maternity leave from mid July 2024 to January 2025.

Head and shoulder view of Dr Assem Ahmed

 Dr. Assem Ahmed is a fully trained General Practitioner and Surgeon in Australia and overseas. He trained in Egypt in hand and general surgery, obtaining a Diploma of Surgery from the Alexandria faculty of medicine, before completing his fellowship of the Royal College of Surgery in Ireland. In Australia he has worked as a surgical fellow in different hospitals, including at the melanoma unit of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and the plastic surgery unit of the Royal North Shore Hospital. During his work in the melanoma unit he developed a special interest in skin cancer management, and a passion for early detection of melanoma. Dr. Ahmed joined the practice in 2017 to continue focusing on skin cancer prevention and management by setting up our skin cancer clinic.

Head and shoulder view of Dr Aaron Chan

Born and raised in Dubbo NSW, Dr Aaron Chan obtained his medical degree at the University of New South Wales before further training at Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Chan then completed the Diploma in Child Health (University of Sydney) in 2014 before moving to the Southern Highlands and attaining his Fellowship of the College of General Practitioners.
Dr Chan enjoys the full range of general practice, with extensive experience in chronic disease management, paediatrics, men’s health, general medicine and aged care. He is committed to promoting health, well-being and disease prevention in all patients.

Dr. Shruti Narsapur graduated from India in 2005, where she specialised in Ophthalmology. In Australia she has worked in Shellharbour, Wollongong and Canterbury hospitals prior to completing GP training in Nowra and Southern Highlands. She has completed Masters of Medicine from the University of Sydney and Sydney Child Health Program from The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. Her special interests include Paediatrics, Women’s Health and General Medicine. She is about to finish her training program and obtain the Fellowship of Royal College of General Practitioners. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Anishka is a Graduate of the University of Newcastle. He worked at Tamworth Hospital prior to moving to South West Sydney to train as a specialist in General Practice. His professional interests include Men’s health, chronic pain, mental health and paediatrics. Dr. Anishka also participates in the Antenatal Shared Care program.

Dr. Jill Richardson is a General Practitioner and accomplished and experienced Occupational Physician with extensive experience in occupational rehabilitation, risk management and early intervention.  She has a special interest in the spine and musculoskeletal medical assessment.

Other health professionals

Dr. Ahmed Hussein is a consultant Endocrinologist. He sees patients at MMC on Mondays fortnightly, and Saturdays monthly. He is experienced in managing all endocrinology disorders, including diabetes, pituitary disease, high-risk diabetic foot, osteoporosis, thyroid and adrenal disorders. He has a special interest in andrology and weight management.

Rebecca has 18 years experience as a clinical dietitian, including seven years working in hospitals the UK. Her particular area’s of expertise and interest are gastrointestinal disorders (IBS, IBD and coeliac disease), weight management, diabetes and managing unintentional weight loss/malnutrition through oral nutrition support. She also currently works at Bowral District hospital, consulting on the medical/surgical and aged care wards’.

Jill Snow has many years of experience as a diabetes educator. Her role includes educating patients on diabetes and the potential complications, providing lifestyle advice, providing education on the self-monitoring of blood glucose levels, and guidance on medication.

Dr. Cohen is a GP who has a special interest and 45 years of experience working in the field of allergies. He conducts allergy testing and offers a variety of treatments including desensitisation therapy. He provides complete medical testing and treatment for adults and children with hay fever, asthma, eczema, urticaria, allergic skin conditions, acute allergic reactions to stings and medications, chemical sensitivities and food allergies. Please phone the practice to arrange an appointment. (he is not available online via Hot Doc).
